Episode Notes
On the memorial of St. Teresa of Jesus (St. Teresa of Ávila), Deacon Mark Campbell and producer Brian Egan bring you a show about healing, grace, and being chosen.
In this episode:
- Sunday readings preview with Deacon Randy Kiel (Christ the King Parish, Des Moines) — Isaiah's prophecy of the pagan king Cyrus and St. Paul's encouragement to the Thessalonians reveal a God who chooses, anoints, and works through unlikely people. Deacon Randy also speaks to anyone who feels "not worthy" of being chosen. Readings for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
- Coach Claude Wilkins, Dowling Catholic — The longtime freshman head coach recounts collapsing on the bus ride to Waterloo, the athletic trainer and coaches who started CPR within moments, and the prayers that carried him back to his players.
- Dr. Matthew Breuninger — The clinical psychologist and author of Finding Freedom in Christ: Healing Life's Hurts talks about how emotional wounds can block grace, why we avoid what hurts, and how faith and medicine work together. He speaks this Sunday, October 18, at St. Augustin Church in Des Moines for the Catholic Medical Association St. Pius X Guild's St. Luke Feast — free, open to the public, freewill offering.
