Episode Notes

Deacon Mark Campbell, Ayden Pugh, and in-studio guest Jason open Tuesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time on the Memorial of Pope Saint Evaristus, the early pope credited with dividing Rome into parishes. Today's Mass is at 6 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas in Indianola.

Deacon Mark and Jason, a lifelong Cubs fan, talk about the public witness of faith in this year's MLB postseason, from Brewers right fielder Sal Frelick's Catholic faith to the Catholic chaplains who serve all 30 Major League clubs, and why finding peace in God matters more than winning or losing. They also discuss the Diocese of Des Moines' plan to move the age of confirmation earlier, and share their own confirmation saints.

Karmen Bower, director of faith formation for the Diocese of Sioux City, shares how high-quality Catholic podcasts, media, and Catholic radio are helping draw more people into OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Her advice for anyone feeling drawn to the Church: let your friends and coworkers know you're Catholic, because the first step is often a conversation with someone you trust. She also shares popular confirmation saints today, from Carlo Acutis to Dymphna, and how to get involved in your own parish: contact the parish office, and come with an idea and a plan to help. Middle and high school students can attend the Diocese of Sioux City's Called Youth Conference on Sunday, November 1, in Granville. Learn more at the Diocese of Sioux City.

Pray for the dead with us in November: from Monday, November 2 (All Souls Day) through Friday, November 20, the Catholic Morning Show will pray for the dead by name every weekday at 7:30 a.m. Submit the names of your loved ones through the prayer page at IowaCatholicRadio.com.

Chris Magruder, founder and executive producer of The Veil Removed and co-host of Catholic Women Now, shares how a prayer during the consecration at Mass in 2014 led to the 2019 short film showing the angels, saints, and souls in purgatory gathered at every Mass. The film has now passed 26 million views across all platforms. Chris shares how she discerned the call, the three signs that led her to move forward on a second film, The Veil Removed: Reconciliation, and the bishop-approved script now in production with Spirit Juice Studios. Join the script reveal event this Friday, October 30, at Embassy Club West, and learn more or give at TheVeilRemoved.com.

Listen live weekdays at 7 a.m. Central on Iowa Catholic Radio, or catch up anytime at IowaCatholicRadio.com.
