New Iowa Catholic Radio App — Launching Today The completely rebuilt Iowa Catholic Radio app goes live later today, sometime after 11 a.m., following the local Mass. Producer Ayden Pugh estimates 500 to 600 hours of work over the last eighteen months went into it. Apple users should see the app update automatically; Android users will need to visit the Google Play Store and download the new version manually. If you open the app and things look different, that's the point.
Serva Fidem at Dowling Catholic Drew Croegaert and Peyton Jamison, Serva Fidem coordinators at Dowling Catholic High School, join the show to talk about the small-group ministry that has grown from a single student group in 2017 to roughly 84 groups today. Students form their own groups with peers and are paired with an adult faith mentor who walks with them through weekly meetings, formation content, and spiritual practices. Peyton and Drew talk about "differentiation" in ministry — meeting freshmen who are still figuring things out and seniors ready for more — and why mentors so often say they get more out of it than the students do. Groups typically form in September and October, with the freshman retreat as a major entry point. Check-in opens at 9 a.m., the day runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and registration is $30 per woman. Missionary, author, and University of Notre Dame campus minister Meg Hunter-Kilmer gives three sessions on Matthew 11:28, with small-group discussion, an extended lunch with vendors from across the diocese, confession, and adoration.
