Canon Law and the Age of AI Adam Storey, who works in canon law and marriage ministry for the Diocese of Des Moines, joins Bo Bonner for his monthly canon law segment, this time asking what the Church's Code of Canon Law has to say about technology and artificial intelligence. Storey walks through Canon 212 — the Church's teaching on the faithful's rights and duties to communicate — and outlines three guiding principles for engaging any technology well: genuine competence, the common good, and respect for human dignity. He also touches on Canons 822–832, the Church's guidance on "instruments of social communication," and how it's meant to order the Church's communication toward unity rather than division.
